Advice on your own case

Find a regulated adviser

MyVisaRoutes publishes general information only. If you want someone to look at your own situation, recommend a route or check your documents, use an adviser who is regulated in the country you're applying to. Check them on the official register before you pay.

United Kingdom

Immigration advice must come from an adviser registered with the Immigration Advice Authority (formerly OISC), or from a regulated solicitor or barrister. Giving immigration advice without this is a criminal offence in the UK.

Canada

Paid immigration advice must come from a licensed immigration consultant (RCIC) on the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants register, a lawyer or paralegal licensed by a provincial or territorial law society, or a notary in Quebec.

Germany

Legal advice on residence and immigration law is given by German lawyers (Rechtsanwälte), often specialists in migration law (Fachanwalt für Migrationsrecht). The German Federal Bar lists admitted lawyers. German missions abroad answer general visa questions for free.

Before you pay an adviser

  • Look the person or firm up on the register yourself; don't rely on a certificate they send you.
  • Ask for the fee and what it covers in writing.
  • Be wary of anyone who promises a visa or a job.

MyVisaRoutes does not currently receive payment from any adviser. If that changes, we will say so on this page.
